Yes, we have great rates. More importantly, GREAT COVERAGE!

July 31st, 2007 by David

When comparing international cell phone rental plans, it is important to do a side by side comparison. Global Cellular Rental prides itself on utilizing only the largest overseas carriers (Vodafone, Orange, SFR, O2, China Mobile, TIM, DoCoMo and many others) to ensure great coverage and exceptional call quality. If you are looking for the cheapest prices (which means poor services) you may want to look elsewhere.

Top ten questions to ask the other international cell phone rental companies:

1. Will the phone actually work at my destination city?

2. What kind of phone number will I receive?

3. Will I have to purchase the SIM card and reload it constantly with my credit card?

4. What is the dialing procedure?

5. What if the phone doesn’t work, can I reach someone 24/7?

6. Will you provide me with the international charging adapters?

7. Is your service guaranteed?

8. Do you take deposits on my credit card?

9. Can I get itemized billing?

10. What carriers do you use?

Happy Travels,

Lily

That means, international charging adapters, detailed dialing instructions, carry case, phone number AND a SIM card. Our service is post paid only, meaning you can talk all you want and never have to buy or reload a SIM card as you would with a pre-paid international phone. Upon return of your phone we will calculate your rental days and minutes used on your international cell phone rental and provide you a final and itemized bill. Try doing that with a pre-paid SIM.

Cellular Phone Rental FAQ’s this week 04-10-07

April 10th, 2007 by David

I have decided to post a weekly blog regarding the most asked questions we get during a specific time period? This should assist those who may have similar questions.

-Does Global Cellular Rental have any hidden fees?

NO! You pay for shipping, rental fees and whatever minutes you have used. That’s it. There are no SIM card charges, activation fees, taxes or usage minimums.

-Can you deliver to me locally overseas?

Global Cellular Rental can deliver locally in South Korea, India, Germany and Japan only.

-Is this one of the phones that take a “card”?

Yes, international GSM phones work with a SIM card (about the size of a postage stamp) that fits underneath the battery. This SIM card contains all of the pertinent information related to your international phone rental. You need not ever touch or remove it since everything is programmed here in our offices prior to shipment.

How will I charge the cell phone rental from Global cellular Rental?

Global Cellular Rental provides all necessary international charging adapters and converters for ALL of your destinations at no additional charge.

More to come,

Kelley

Help me dial phone numbers from anywhere on the planet.

April 2nd, 2007 by David

If you live in the USA and have made international calls at one point then you understand the process. To dial any number outside of North America (international) you must dial the numbers 011 before the country code, city code and seven digit phone number. For example, if I was to dial the United Kingdom from a USA mobile phone or land line phone I would dial 011(international access number),44(UK country code), 171 (city code for London) and 555-1212 (the local phone number that I want to reach in the UK. Now, from any other location outside of the USA you do not use 011 to prefix the call. If you wanted to direct dial the same number above while calling from let’s say, Germany, the pattern would be as follows. 00( two zeros lets the mobile know that you are going to be placing an international call), 44 (country code), 1710(we now add a zero after the city code as required in Europe) and the seven digit phone number of 555-1212.

This certainly tends to be a bit confusing if you have not dialed from overseas before. All of the mobile telephones offered by Global Cellular Rental offer the ability to enter in the “+” sign before the country code. This is a generic method of preparing your phone for an international call from any country on the planet. On Motorola phones you press and hold the zero key until the plus appears and then start with the country code of let’s say 44 for the UK. With Nokia phones the “+” sign is accessed by pressing the “*” key two times. It is important for you to know that the country code for the USA is 1. That is correct, if you are direct dialing our offices from anywhere in the world you would dial 00 or + and then 18607672933. Our are code is 860 and our phone number is 767-2933. Rest assured, Global Cellular Rental provides detailed and comprehensive dialing instructions for making and receiving calls to and from anywhere on the planet. It all may seem a bit complicated but after your first call it becomes second nature.

Safe Travels,

David

Free Iridum incoming calls are not so “free”.

January 15th, 2007 by David

As you may know, all of our satellite telephone rentals are offered with FREE incoming calls to the renter anywhere on the globe. Although these calls are free to the end user, the person dialing the phone number will incur international long distance charges from $3.00-$19.00 per minute to access an Iridium phone. This is because the Iridium system phones carry their own country code and city code unique to their product and USA long distance carriers are free to charge whatever they like to have you directly dial their satellite phones.

Global Cellular Rental currently offers a less expensive method of direct dialing our satellite phones without the long distance “sticker shock” on your home or office phone bill. By providing a local US phone number, our customers can be reached at the discounted rate of $1.99/minute fixed rate per minute. This feature can be added to any of our Iridium phone rentals at no additional charge. Many of our competitors fail to inform the customer of the potential $19.00 minute phone calls and therefore the customer could end up with a home or office phone bill into the thousands. Global Cellular Rental wants your rental experience to be a safe and enjoyable one and everything we do is a means to this end. Please contact us with any questions at 800.931.9773.

Cellular Phone Rentals utilizing CallBack

January 9th, 2007 by David

Global Cellular Rental is pleased to announce the addition of a CallBack S.I.M. card for the budget conscious traveler. Although the CallBack S.I.M. card itself is rather complex and sophisticated, the method of placing and receiving calls is rather simple. By utilizing US switches and routers the cost per minute is dramatically reduced over using this equipment in your destination country. Not only are incoming calls FREE in over 50 countries, the outgoing call rates are a fraction of other international operators. To receive calls while using CallBack someone would just dial your phone number directly, very simple. To place a call to anywhere in the world you just dial the number, the phone disconnects the call and the service rings you back to complete the call. All you need to do is answer the phone and your outgoing call is completed. Our CallBack S.I.M. cards are the most cost effective international roaming solution available today. With global coverage and state of the art quad band handsets, these systems are set to revolutionize the way we communicate across the globe.
